Here is my completely subjective report on Dubai. We only stayed for two nights, just a stopover on the way home, to devide the time spent on the plain. We had a big room in a nice hotel, more like an appartment, with kitchen and even washing machine, and even were allowed to check in at nine in the morning without paying extra, which was great after a nighttime flight from Ho Chi Minh City where we practically didn’t sleep at all. So no complaints until now.
From Hoi An we got on a new mode of transportation for us – a sleeper bus. We had ample experience with overnight bus rides from the United states, where we traveled a lot with Greyhounds. Hoi An is one of these places that you instantly like. It’s small, manageable and is dotted with charming old buildings, beautifully preserved and turned into souvenir shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafés. Especially the latter are where we spent a lot of time. Did we mention the Vietnamese coffee is delicious?
