Christmas… Christmas everywhere!
It feels kind of strange to have breakfast in an air conditioned hotel restaurant with the sun shining bright outside listening to “Jingle Bells” and other Christmas songs.
And they ONLY played Christmas songs, nothing else. When checking out I asked for how long they were planning to do that; the answer was “maybe 5th of January or so…”. I figured it’s for the orthodox tourists who celebrate Christmas on 7th of January. It’s not only the hotel but also shopping malls, bars, basically everywhere you go you find (more or less) traditional Christmas decoration:

Anja, this is exactly what we experienced and felt while we were spending our last holiday days in the DomRep at the very beginning of 2011. Our resort even seemed to have had the same Christmas tree back then.
It just doesn’t stop. Today we listened to Dean Martin singing “it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” during lunch…
